🍂 October in Clacks

Dearest Reader…
Working in property means I spend most of my week travelling around our local towns and villages, speaking to people and keeping a close eye on what’s happening across the area.
And believe me, there’s always something going on!
So I thought — why not bring some of it together?
Each month, I’ll be sharing what’s happening around Clackmannanshire — local events, community news, people doing brilliant things, a little behind-the-scenes look at life at Property Connections and, of course, some of the homes I’m selling in the area too.
Whether you live here, work here, are thinking about moving here or simply like knowing what’s happening locally, hopefully there’ll be something here for you.
So, Dearest Reader, grab a cuppa ☕ — here’s what’s happening around Clacks this October…
⸻
📅 What’s On Around Clackmannanshire This October?
October is looking like a busy month, particularly with the school holidays and Halloween approaching. Here are a few dates for the diary.
🎃 Halloween at Cowden — Dollar
The Japanese Garden at Cowden is getting into the Halloween spirit with seasonal activities for families.
A lovely option for getting out and about during the October holidays.
⚽ Active October — 12th–23rd October
Clackmannanshire Council’s school-holiday programme returns with activities including sports camps, ski school, gymnastics, cycling and football.
A great way to keep the kids busy over the October break!
🎭 Macbeth — 20th–24th October, Sauchie
Kraken Theatre Group brings Macbeth to Sauchie Public Hall this October, giving us a bit of theatre right on our doorstep.
I also have to give a special shout-out to my brother-in-law, Brian, who is taking on the role of Macbeth and doing a fantastic job! 👏🎭
I might be slightly biased, but this is definitely one I think is worth getting along to see. ❤️
👻 Darkness Beneath — 22nd October, Alloa Tower
Something a little different for Halloween!
Darkness Beneath at Alloa Tower combines local history with the darker side of the season — definitely one for anyone who likes their local history with a spooky twist.
🎃 Wonderfully Wicked Weekend — 24th–25th October, Tillicoultry
Sterling Mills gets into the Halloween spirit with its Wonderfully Wicked Weekend, with family activities taking place across the weekend.
🧟 Zombie Walk — 25th October, Alloa
The annual Zombie Walk returns to Wimpey Park — always a fun one for families and another brilliant community event right here in Alloa.
🛍️ Dollar Market — 25th October
If spooky isn’t your thing, Dollar Market is also taking place on the 25th — a good excuse for a wander and an opportunity to support local traders.

📰 Around the Community
One of the things I love about working locally is seeing just how much goes on within our communities — and September gave us plenty worth talking about.
❤️ Wimpey Park — Community Spirit at Its Best
Following the devastating fire at Wimpey Park, it’s been fantastic to see the local community come together.
A GoFundMe was set up to help towards repairing the damage and, thanks to the incredible support it received, the fundraiser has now closed and plans for the park repairs are in motion. 👏
What started as such disappointing news has become a brilliant example of Clackmannanshire community spirit — local people donating, sharing and supporting a place enjoyed by so many families.
A massive well done to everyone involved. ❤️
Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we see Wimpey Park restored and being enjoyed by the community once again.
⚽ Supporting Our Local Reds — Sauchie Juniors FC
We couldn’t do a Clackmannanshire round-up without giving a shout-out to our local Sauchie Juniors FC — The Reds! ❤️⚽
Based at Beechwood Park and part of the Sauchie community for generations, the club continues to bring local football right to our doorstep.
We’re also very proud at Property Connections to sponsor The Reds and play our own small part in supporting a fantastic local club. ❤️
A huge shout-out to the players, coaches, volunteers and supporters who put so much into the club and help keep local football thriving in our community.
Good luck to The Reds for October — from all of us at Property Connections, we’ll be cheering you on! ❤️⚽
👷♀️ Alloa Teenager Breaks New Ground
A huge well done to former Alloa Academy pupil Cara MacDougall, who has become Persimmon’s first female apprentice joiner in Scotland.
At just 17, Cara is beginning her career in construction while studying at Forth Valley College and working on local developments, including Willowfields in Sauchie.
It’s brilliant to see a young local woman entering the industry. 👏
🩺 New Walk-In Health Service for Clacks
A new GP-led walk-in service has launched at Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre.
The pilot service is initially operating on Mondays and Thursdays between noon and 6pm, alongside changes designed to improve access to local healthcare, including Sunday pharmacy provision.
Definitely useful information to know!
👏 Also Worth a Mention…
The EPIC volunteer programme was Highly Commended at the BBC Radio Scotland Make a Difference Awards after the fantastic contribution its volunteers have made across Clackmannanshire. 🌳
Alloa Athletic also welcomed two new faces — Buzz and Bella, the club’s new brother-and-sister wasp mascots. 🐝
And the Rotary Club of Alloa’s Tour de Clacks took place on 27th September, supporting Ochil Youths Community Improvement and its work with young people locally. 🚴
Lots of good things happening across our wee county. ❤️

🔑 Sold in September
Despite a quieter market, we’ve still been getting properties moving.
🏡 39 Craigbank, Sauchie
This one was particularly nice.
The buyer spotted the property through my social media and got in touch before it had even fully launched on the market — resulting in another successful sale.
It just goes to show the power of getting your property seen by the right people.
🏡 1 Stance Place, Larbert
Another property successfully sold during September. 🎉
Congratulations to everyone involved!

📊 Sarah’s Property Update
September has continued to feel a little quieter across the local property market, with fewer active buyers and fewer viewings than we were seeing earlier in the year.
That doesn’t mean properties aren’t selling — they absolutely are.
But in a quieter market, pricing, presentation and getting your property in front of the right audience become even more important.
For sellers, it’s about making sure your property stands out from the moment it launches — and that’s where good preparation, strong photography, social media exposure and the right pricing strategy can really make a difference.

💛 Meanwhile at Property Connections…
It’s not all houses!
September has been a busy month behind the scenes at Property Connections too.
🏇 A Day at the Races
The Property Connections team enjoyed a fantastic day out at Hamilton Racecourse on 28th September.
It’s always nice to swap houses for horses for a day! 🐎
🎂 Happy Birthday, Nige!
We also celebrated Nige’s birthday this month.
🥳 We hope you had a brilliant day.
❤️ Good Luck, Skye!
This month, we also said goodbye to the lovely Skye, who has left us to begin full-time employment after completing her degree.
We’re all so proud of her and wish her every success in this exciting next chapter.
All the very best, Skye — and we hope you’ll still pop in to see us from time to time! ❤️
☀️ Chasing the Sunshine
Sharon, Kev and Karen have all managed to enjoy a little sunshine and some well-earned time away over the past month — albeit not together! 😂
Hopefully, they’ve all come back refreshed, recharged and ready for another busy month.
⸻
🚆 Next Stop… London! 🤓
There’s more happening in October too.
Sharon, Chris, Kevin and I are heading down to London!
We’ll keep you posted on what we get up to — and there might just be a few stories to bring back for next month’s round-up. 👀
🎄 Christmas Plans Are Underway!
It might only be October, but Christmas planning has already started at Property Connections! 🎅🥂
This year, we’re looking forward to heading to The Vu in Bathgate for a Christmas party night.
Something tells me there may be a few stories from that one for a future edition! 😂
We’re already looking forward to getting everyone together and celebrating another year as a team. ❤️

And that’s the first October in Clacks!
I’m hoping to make this a regular monthly feature, bringing together some of the good things happening across Clackmannanshire alongside a little glimpse behind the scenes at Property Connections and our local property market.
And I’d love the local community to be part of it.
